Top research highlighted in fight against heart disease and stroke

American Heart Association/American Stroke Association 2011 Top Research Reports February 06, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DALLAS, February 6, 2012 – The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has been compiling an annual list of the major advances in heart disease and stroke research since 1996. This year, the association again compiled two separate lists – one with a focus on overall cardiovascular health, the other with a focus on research related to strokes. Areas of advancement noted this year include lifestyle risk prevention, congenital heart disease, genetics/personalized medicine, new drugs and treatment in the battle against atrial fibrillation, improved systems of care to deliver faster care for heart attack and stroke among others.
